FolkEast Festival

Workshops (for children 12 years and under) include:- 

• Paint your own Violin/Viola - am
• Play and Sing with your decorated Violin/Viola - pm 
• Come and Try the Melodeon - pm
• Come and try the Recorder - pm

We are offering local schools the opportunity to book a FREE 30-minute vocal workshop for whole classes, or a Key Stage group, or even the whole school, focussing on unaccompanied folk-singing in unison and parts, delivered in your school on selected dates in June and July by vocal lead Tracey Rayner.

Times and dates available:

We know you're all incredibly busy at this end of term, but there may be a moment to explore one or even two of the songs and then perhaps even plan them into your classroom teaching or choirs for the new academic year. Whatever you choose to do, the pack is a contribution from us to supplement your music resources.

FolkEast Song Pack 

We have put together a FREE FolkEast Song Pack for schools and families which we hope you will all engage with and join us to sing as part of our Workshops.

The pack contains six folksongs, four of which have Norfolk/Suffolk connections, all supported by historical background, teaching notes, sheet music/chords and further activities to do with each song. 

Admission to the festival for children 11 and under is free of charge (Little Folkers). 

Please email us if you'd like to register for a workshop in advance. 

Youth Moot have their own Workshop tent with activities throughout the day. These will include sessions for beginners/improvers and advanced players.

On Friday there will be a National Youth Folk Ensemble Performance to enjoy, then later on that day a session with them.

Saturday sees the sessions for beginners/improvers and advanced players plus Come & Try Instrument sessions, early evening sees Vocal sessions too.

Sunday Sessions again include those for beginners, improver and advanced players... there is talk of a Guest Artist making an appearance too!
