BBC Ten Pieces

Now in its third phase, BBC Ten Pieces is an initiative for Primary and Secondary schools that aims to open up the world of classical music to 7-14 years olds across the UK. Focussing on classical music and creativity, it encourages children and young people to respond to the music through their own musical compositions, dance, or digital art.

The pieces

There are ten different pieces for each year of the project. Ten Pieces III includes: Copland's Rodeo - Hoe Down, Elgar's 'Enigma' Variations - Theme (Enigma), and specially commissioned a cappella piece No Place Like by Kerry Andrew.

Creative responses

You can develop your own creative responses to the Ten Pieces through music, dance, poetry, videos, animations, art projects, and more! You can take a look at last year's responses to get inspired and find out more information.

Taking part

You can work with as many pieces as you like, using the resources to fit in with your own suited timetable of learning.

Coaching Scheme

Aimed at young musicians aged 10-18, the Ten Pieces Coaching Scheme offers the chance to improve performance and musicianship skills through bespoke workshops and coaching programmes with professional musicians from BBC Orchestras and Choirs.
